Samaka

This design is inspired by the traditional Angolan textile print, called the “Samakaka”. There is little to no information as to the symbology of the fabric. However, the original print features colors from the Angolan flag but as time passed, additional colors were introduced. Red represents the blood shed by the people who fought for the anti colonization movement. The black represents the land or the African continent. The yellow or gold represents the country’s wealth.
